The European Cities and Neighborhoods Survey is led by Professor Narayani Lasala-Blanco (University of California) and Dr. Shahana Chattaraj (University of Sheffield), in collaboration with Professor Laura Morales (University of Leicester) and Ph.D. candidate Shannon Schumacher (University of California).
The goal of the project is to understand how different city and neighborhood contexts influence local public opinion on community, politics, and immigrant integration issues.
The project has trained over 60 students in data collection, survey methodology, and research design from universities throughout the US, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, and Sweden, including: University of California, Santa Barbara, King's College London, University of Sheffield, University College London, Liverpool Hope University, Huddersfield University, University of London: SOAS, University of Leicester, University of Nottingham, University of Oxford, University of Manchester, University of Birmingham, University of Bristol, University of Sussex, Humboldt University Berlin, Georg-August-University Gottingen, Freie University Berlin, European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratisation, Jacobs University Bremen, Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa, Uppsala University, and Stockholm University.
The project has received funding from the National Science Foundation, the Skoll Centre for Social Entrepreneurship of the University of Oxford, the UCSB Academic Senate, and the UCSB Institute for Social, Behavioral, and Economic Research.
